Cruise to Maloy, Norway

Cruises to Maloy, Norway take you to a small Norwegian town on the western island of Vagsoy. While this picturesque slice of western Norway was only recognized as an official town as of 1997, legend tells of Viking King Magnus the Good forming the first organized settlement here in 1035. Today, the locals are mostly engaged in running the massive fishing export industry, sending over 180,000 tons of fish abroad every year. The surrounding Stadhavet Sea is famous for its high winds, surging tides and epic storms. No wonder the island has no fewer than four lighthouses to guide ships safely through one of the world's trickiest passageways! When you go to Maloy, Norway, you can see over 20 impressive murals just by walking around town. This blossoming cultural scene combined with historical sites, such as the Maloy Raid Center, tells the story of the town's intriguing Nordic past.

Lighthouse Mania

There are four lighthouses on Vagsoy, three of which are still functional. Despite being set high above the ocean, Kråkenes Lighthouse weathers spray from the gigantic waves below in extreme conditions. Ulvesund Lighthouse is where you'll see the most sea traffic, and Skongnes Lighthouse requires a two-hour hike. Hendanes Lighthouse is abandoned and difficult to reach.
